Hawaii: Pilot Survey Survey

Hawaii: O'ahu & Maui Piliot Survey
Hawaii is an incredibly popular vacation destination, in fact the region collects approximately $800 million USD each year from marine tourists. Hawaiian coral reefs also provide critical services including commercial, recreational and subsistence fishing as well as creating world-famous surfing and diving locations for these ocean loving tourists. Despite their economic significance to the region, reefs are experiencing high levels of anthropogenic stress from ever-increasing population pressures.

We deployed a pilot team into the area during the Hawaiian summer of 2012 to record imagery in some of the heavily trafficked tourist sites including Hanauma Bay, O'ahu and the Molokini Crater, Maui.
