Wilson Island Survey

Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea Expedition: Survey 20
Wilson Island is one of eight vegetated coral cays in the Capricornia Cays National Park and is one of only a handful of places that people can stay on the Great Barrier Reef itself. Wilson Island is just 15 kms north of Heron Island and is accessed by boat via Heron. Wilson is an important rookery for both Green Turtles and the local bird community - the island actually closes down to visitors in February when nesting season peaks.
