Ribbon Reef No.3 Survey

Great Barrier Reef and Coral Sea Expedition: Survey 18
Located on Ribbon Reef No.3, Steve's Bommie is a bit like an oasis in the desert, it comes out of nowhere. Surrounded by a flat sandy bottom this bommie rises suddenly from 30m depth, providing a meeting point for all types of marine life. From 20m to 5m depth you will see all manner of reef fish, most notably some massive stonefish along with some impressive seafans and large plate corals. Circling the bommie are hundreds of schooling fish and predators too including barracuda and sharks. At the right time of year you will even see Minke Whales in the blue.
