Bonaire Survey

Caribbean Expedition: Survey 2
The name Bonaire comes from the Caquetio Indian word 'Bonay' which roughly translates to 'good air', from what we understand it may also mean 'good water' as the diving here is fantastic. In fact the words 'Divers Paradise' appear on the license plates of all vehicles on the island. Tourism is the main driver of the economy and recreational scuba divers and snorkelers make up the majority of tourists.

Bonaire has such a great reputation for diving thanks largely to the fact it is a declared and protected marine sanctuary which began with turtle protection back in 1961.
