Australian temperate water survey
Sydney is the second temperate-water location that the survey has visited in the past 12 months. Temperate water environments present an extra layer of challenge as they are usually not as bright as the tropical coral reefs environments, slight adjustments to our scientific methodology and survey techniques compensate for this challenge.
Sydney Harbour is actually a drowned river valley which formed during the sea level rise approximately 10,000 years ago to create one of the most recognisable harbours in the world. The harbour provides a crucial habitat for countless marine species and a stunning playground for the 4 million people who reside in the Sydney area.
