Richard Fitzpatrick

Cinematographer & Marine Biologist

Richard is an Emmy award winning cinematographer as well as being a James Cook University qualified marine biologist specialising in sharks. Richard has an unusual approach to his research, preferring to catch Tiger and other species of sharks by the tail, to reduce stress to the animals. He has shot more than 50 films for the BBC, National Geographic and Discovery Channel and is renowned for filming complex behavioural sequences - many never seen before. With over 10,000 hours underwater, he has filmed all around the world. One of Richard's most recent projects was the BBC / Discovery Channel Series; Great Barrier Reef.
