Ana is currently studying her PhD at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. She is passionate about the protection of coral reef ecosystems in the Caribbean area. She studies population dynamics of coral reef fishes: assessing the movement of different species of fish between reefs during their lifetime. Her data will be used to explore what may happen to the marine population of a reef, if the reef is disturbed by issues such as rising ocean temperatures, over fishing or destruction of habitats. Ana joins the XL Catlin Seaview Survey to conduct fish census surveys in the Caribbean. She will evaluate the influence coral reef structures have on the diversity of their fish inhabitants.
